Accessibility Statement

Last updated: February 2026

Our commitment

Vranch House Children's Charity is committed to making this website accessible to as many people as possible, regardless of technology or ability. We aim to comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.

What we've done

We have taken the following steps to make this website accessible:

  • Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements can be accessed using a keyboard alone
  • Skip to content — a “Skip to main content” link is provided at the top of every page
  • Alt text — all meaningful images include descriptive alternative text
  • Colour contrast — text meets minimum contrast ratios against background colours
  • Reduced motion — animations are automatically reduced for users who have set a preference for reduced motion in their operating system
  • Semantic HTML — proper heading hierarchy, landmarks, and ARIA labels are used throughout
  • Responsive design — the website works on all screen sizes from mobile phones to large desktop monitors
  • Form accessibility — all form inputs have associated labels, error messages, and appropriate ARIA attributes

Known limitations

We are aware of the following accessibility limitations:

  • Some placeholder images may not yet have fully descriptive alt text — we are working to add real photography throughout
  • The embedded Google Map on the contact page is a third-party component and may not be fully accessible to all users — we provide the address in text as an alternative
  • PDF documents linked from this website may not be fully accessible — please contact us if you need information in an alternative format

Browser compatibility

This website is designed to work with:

  • Google Chrome (latest 2 versions)
  • Mozilla Firefox (latest 2 versions)
  • Apple Safari (latest 2 versions)
  • Microsoft Edge (latest 2 versions)

Assistive technology

This website has been built with assistive technology in mind, including compatibility with screen readers (such as NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver) and speech recognition software.
