Vranch House School
We take a holistic and child-centred approach to supporting children with communication needs at Vranch House, with a focus on promoting social participation, emotional wellbeing and building meaningful connections by adopting principles of intensive interaction, using a total communication approach throughout the school, and implementing the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
An in-house supplemental specialist dysphagia service is provided to Vranch House pupils who experience eating, drinking, and swallowing difficulties.
Outpatients
Vranch House provides a specialist outpatient service for the assessment and intervention of Augmentative and Alternative Communication, for children and young people up to age 18, in Exeter and Devon (excluding Plymouth), in association with Children and Family Health Devon and AAC West. A child may be referred to this service via The Single Point of Access.
Who do we see?
We see children aged 0–18 years old who are likely to benefit from high tech AAC — those who are non-speaking or who have limited speech which is mostly unintelligible.
We see children from Exeter, East, Mid, North and South Devon.
Where do we see them
Appointments may take place virtually, in the child's school or in one of our clinic spaces. This is decided upon dependent on the nature of the referral.
