Post 16

Preparing young people for adulthood is at the heart of everything we do.

At Vranch House, preparing young people for adulthood is at the heart of everything we do. From secondary school onwards, we support each pupil to develop the skills, confidence and independence they need for life beyond school.

Our approach is highly personalised, recognising that every young person's future will look different.

Our Post 16 provision builds on each young person's journey through the Vranch Individual Education and Wellbeing (VIEW) curriculum, which continues into adulthood.

Learning is structured around key phases

Learning how to learn
Learning by exploration
Learning for living

The Post 16 phase focuses on “learning for living” - helping pupils apply their skills to real-life decisions such as:

  • Where they want to go after Vranch House
  • What activities they enjoy
  • How they want to live their lives

Qualifications & Achievement

Pupils follow personalised accreditation pathways including:

AQA Functional Skills and Unit Awards

Entry Level and Pre-entry pathways

Vocational and life skills-based learning

Vranch House certificates recognising personal development

These celebrate meaningful outcomes such as:

  • Communication and expressing choices
  • Social engagement
  • Participation in community and leisure activities

For some pupils, maintaining skills and wellbeing is as important as progression, and this is fully recognised within our provision.

Therapies & Holistic Support

At Vranch House, education is supported by a highly integrated therapeutic offer, ensuring every young person can reach their full potential. This includes:

  • Physiotherapy (including hydrotherapy and specialist equipment)
  • Occupational Therapy (supporting independence and daily living)
  • Speech & Language Therapy using a Total Communication approach
  • Music Therapy supporting wellbeing, communication and interaction

All pupils receive individualised programmes, carefully tailored to their needs.
